John is the NEXTGEN Group CEO and along with Steve founded NEXTGEN in 2011. His experience in the IT industry spans more than 20 years, in executive roles for IT distributors and consulting to IT vendors, distributors and resellers around growth, business transformation and customer-centric strategies. John has also been a driver on various mergers and acquisitions included Private Equity engagement. His high-level relationships with client and vendor organisations and the ability to “get doors open” have been crucial in the establishment and rapid expansion of the business.
Prior to the IT industry, John held senior executive roles at TNT, which he joined after 17 years serving in the Australian Army. John held many exciting and fulfilling appointment, including active service in the 1991 Gulf War, whilst serving with the British Grenadier Guards.
John has a love of family and a passion for wine and all sports but in particular, Rugby Union and Golf.

Terry has built his reputation by providing channel partners with the support they need to deliver quality, high-end solutions in the enterprise space.

Scott joined NEXTGEN in 2013 to spearhead the development of the companies marketing and digital services business which has had a marked impact on the award-winning growth and success that NEXTGEN has experienced to date. In 2017, Scott was a driving force behind the NEXTGEN Group’s strategic acquisition of independent marketing and brand agency, Bang. Today, NEXTGEN’s marketing and communications functions have been outsourced to Bang, which is also NEXTGEN’s vehicle for delivering a range of marketing and brand services to its many vendors and partners. As such, Scott has the privilege of holding the dual role of Group Chief Marketing Officer, NEXTGEN, and Chief Operating Officer, Bang. In these roles, Scott builds on insights gained in senior management positions in marketing and sales, in both the finance and technology industries. Scott has worked for some of the world’s leading organisations including Novell, NASDAQ and CA Technologies. This international corporate experience is complemented by successfully setting up, managing and selling a startup. Scott feels passionate about being on the inside of an industry that’s continually driving change in business and society.

Joining NEXTGEN in 2018, Gavin Lawless brings 25 years IT industry experience to his role as Director of Growth, including senior roles in Distribution, Vendor and Consulting firms, leading sales teams in channel sales, direct product sales, consulting sales as well as mergers and acquisitions. Gavin believes with passion that his success has been achieved through his ability to attract the right people, working closely with them and empowering them to be the best they can be. He attributes long term success to developing solid relationships built on trust and mutual respect, and brings this philosophy to NEXTGEN. He is responsible for ensuring the growth of NEXTGEN across key partners; current and future vendors and acquisitions that contribute to the company’s strategic vision.
Most recently Gavin held the position of Sales Director at Oracle/NetSuite and prior to that ran Channels and Enterprise Sales at Infor. He was the General Manager of Avnet between 2006 and 2012 taking the company from a $50Mil to a $500Mil business, and was appointed as Vice President in 2011. Gavin played first class and professional rugby in the 90’s whilst starting his IT career, and is married with three daughters.

Paul is passionate about technology and has been responsible for leading many strategic vendor engineering teams. Supporting customers to achieve transformational business outcomes has been a key focus. Technical domain knowledge covers Data Protection, application performance and disaster recovery. Paul has increased his breadth of technical knowledge to include segments of Security and platforms pertaining to Cloud Computing.
His background in Data Management was developed during his time at Veritas Technology and his security focus was developed during eight years at Symantec, where he was Presales Director. He has more than 20 years’ experience working with vendors, including 16 years of specialisation in data recovery and security technology.
His recently appointed role in leading NEXTGEN’s enterprise security practice has further expanded his knowledge and created a portfolio of new technology advances in the world of IT Security. Over the past 20 years he has received numerous industry and platform certifications across many infrastructure solutions.

James has worked in IT since 2007, when he began his career with industry icon, Peter Kazacos, providing high-net wealth clients with personal, investment and corporate advisory services at Kaz Capital. He later brought his passion for finance and technology, including a firm understanding of commercial realities, into NEXTGEN, taking on management of the company’s relationships with its exciting next generation vendors. James has been particularly instrumental in driving the success of NEXTGEN’s Nimble Storage portfolio and the transition into HPE. James has also brought the best of both worlds — technology and finance — to Orbus, NEXTGEN’s first-of-its-kind vehicle for providing tailored IT payment solutions for the channel.

James began working in the IT distribution industry in 2009 before joining NEXTGEN in 2011 during its first few months. James has grown with the business and enjoyed various roles across presales, technical architecture and most recently running NEXTGEN’s Oracle Business Unit. In his current role as Group CTO, James is responsible for the technical strategy and capability of the NEXTGEN Group. As part of this role James aims to ensure NEXTGEN is innovative, relevant, differentiated and providing an exceptional customer experience – both for partners and vendors.
With a young family James misses travelling, but makes up for it with cooking and drinking wines from around the world. He is an avid football supporter and particularly enjoys the English Premier League.

John developed his expertise over 11 successful years in sales roles, eight in alliances/channel partner business development, and nine years driving process improvement in leading organisations, including leading banks in Asia and Australia. He spent more than two years in management consulting with AT Kearney and Accenture Strategy, and more than ten years in program and project management, focusing on best practice process improvement and system and product delivery initiatives.

Sally’s IT experience spans roles across technical service delivery, inbound/outbound sales, partner management, business development and sales operations for leading organisations such as Macquarie Bank, JP Morgan and Sun Micro Systems/Oracle. Her corporate experience proved valuable to her transition into technology start ups in the UK and when she joined NEXTGEN during its infancy, in June 2012. She has proven expertise and experience in the area of cross-channel customer experience, covering both technology and business processes. Sally brings deep understanding in this area to her current role, along with her passion for customer service experience, process automation and sales and order management. Her current focus is driving a more effective customer experience to keep pace with NEXTGEN’s dynamic and nimble sales environment, and enhancing the customer care processes.

Andrew has been a director of Nextgen since its inception in 2011 when Nextgen’s founders, John Walters and Steve Murphy, asked Andrew to join the Board of Directors to add to the professional and independent governance of the company.
Andrew brings a wealth of experience as a non-executive director of private companies experiencing rapid growth. Andrew spent the first 25 years of his career in Investment Banking and Private Equity. For the last five years Andrew has been CEO of Nexus Hospitals, a national group of surgical hospitals which he helped to establish in 2013.
Throughout his career, Andrew has served as a non-executive director on the board of companies across a variety of industries and various stages of development. This has provided Andrew with a depth of experience in strategy and organisational development, governance, acquisitions, negotiation, mergers and integration, and financial structuring. Most of all, its proven the fundamental elements of success in business are the ability to be nimble in strategy, flawless in execution and relentless in focussing on the customer.
Andrew is proud to be associated with the success that John Walters and his team have had in developing Nextgen to reimagine the traditional distribution model.
Andrew is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School and a member of The Executive Connection. Andrew holds a BEc from the Australian National University and is also the author of an explanatory text on private equity “In the Driver’s Seat”, published in 2013.

Steve founded Frontline Systems in 1992, to market database enhancement products. The business was expanded to include Sun Microsystems soon after establishment. By 1999, Frontline had grown into Sun Australia’s largest partner.
By 2012, Frontline had grown into a business of over $240mil in revenues, with offices in 8 locations including Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane, Adelaide & Singapore. Frontline employed over 180 staff with specialisations in Data centre, HPC, Cloud, Unix, Database and Windows. Frontline won many accolades and awards over the years. Frontline was acquired by NTT (Nippon Telegraph and Telephone) in 2012 to expand their presence in Australia and Steve remained on as Executive Chairman, until late in 2015. Steve was inducted into the ARN IT Industry “Hall of Fame” in 2013, as recognition of his long and successful involvement in the IT industry.
Steve was the founding investor in NEXTGEN Distribution, which started operations in late 2011 and joined the Board in August 2016. His support has been instrumental in NEXTGEN growing from start up to a business with revenues of circa $100mil across Australia & New Zealand.
Steve is originally from London and supports West Ham. He visited Australia in 1979 and decided to stay. Apart from the IT industry, his experiences also include working in large scale mining operations and global food processing. Steve is married with two adult children and is passionate about golf and cars. His developing passion is “giving back” and he has established a Charitable Trust called The Boleyn Foundation to direct funds to a variety of worthwhile causes.

Tim has over 30 years’ business experience in a range of roles and industries and is currently the Executive Chairman of IXUP (ASX: IUX) a recently listed data management and collaboration technology company. Previously, Tim was MD of Oracle in Australia and New Zealand; Chief Commercial Officer of NBN Co; CEO of SAP in Australia and New Zealand; He was also the CFO of SAP, Compaq, and Unisys and Investment Director in the venture capital industry. Tim has twice been a member of the Business Council of Australia (BCA) and is an inaugural BCA Women "C-Suite" Mentor.
Tim is a non-executive director of listed GeoOp Ltd (NZX:GEO) and a former director of Nvoi Limited (ASX:NVO). He is also a non-executive director of NEXTGEN Distribution Pty Ltd and a trustee of the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences in NSW. Tim holds a Bachelor of Economics degree, has completed a management program at INSEAD, is a Fellow of CPA Australia, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management and a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

As CEO of ASX listed ConnXion Ltd, David provided strategic and business growth services to NZ Mint, Speedscan and Converga.
